Hello and Welcome to A Girl’s Promise ~ where young women learn to E.M.B.R.A.C.E. themselves.
My name is Leon L. Adams and I am the Founder and President of A Girl's Promise, Inc. I live in Tucson, AZ with my wife Monica and best friend of 20 years. We have 3 daughters, ages 10, 16, and 22. Oh my goodness, somebody help me, the only other male is a cat. Actually, they're my pride and joy and greatest accomplishment no matter what I achieve because real parenting is hard work. I am also very passionate about health and fitness and love laughter.
I grew up in the windy city of Chicago, Illinois and my family moved to Tucson, Arizona in the summer of 1981. Talk about night and day! Boy, do I have stories, lots of lessons, two totally different worlds. I began Sahuaro High School as a sophomore and graduated in June 1983 with a football scholarship to Culver - Stockton College in Canton, Missouri (don’t worry no one knew where it was either). A road traveled with more lessons. I returned home the following year. I received my Bachelor's of Science degree in Human Services from the University of Phoenix and applied what I learned to assist me in working over 25 years in corporate America or as an entrepreneur. It's a wonder I'm not crazy. Even more lessons.
My mission has always been for young women to truly get an understanding of self love. I try to instill that without love of self and direction your life and future could be a highway to hell you never expected or planned on. This passion led to the creation of A Girl's Promise, an organization aimed at helping young women develop life-changing habits and strategies that help re-define who they are.
I hope you read the letter that I’ve written to my daughters it’s about the importance of self love and no it’s not in video form for you to view. You have to read it, it’s better to read anyway.
Maybe I’ll see you at one the workshops you might catch me or another participant sharing a real-life experience. I believe a lot can be learned from real life experiences (RLE) but equally as important you should be learning from other people experiences (OPE). You don’t always have to experience it to learn from it. Hope to see you there.
